It was only this year that I realised that nonce is actually a prison term acronym for Not On Normal Courtyard Exercise.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Cromite a Bromite fork with ad blocking and privacy enhancementsEnglish
2·4 days agoI’m with you and not perfectly sure that Brave is the best, but I reserve it for my logged in accounts only. IronFox and Cromite both set to private with no history or logs, and used for single use opening of links from Lemmy etc. Trying to isolate / separate third party cookies and tracking as I can. I also use Rethink DNS as firewall and with three filters for whole android device.

6·4 days agoI routinely use Cromite and IronFox (closest to LibreWolf for android). Have Brave for logging into accounts with some adjustment and For browser for checking flights or discounts etc.
Came to say what most have already: It works already as well / better than Gnome, doesn’t require superduper hardware, stable, why the feck did I wait until 2025 to try it? Not looking back.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Best "bang for your buck" NUC/Pi setup for Jellyfin/HomeAssistant/PiHole?English
1·12 days agoWe appear to have a similar affliction. I’m let down terribly by a lack of expertise, and so take a best alternative in most cases. My VPN is Mullvad. I’m due renewal in the next 2 months so will be pondering simple renewal vs switching to ProtonVPN. The purity of Mullvad privacy is wasted on me as the only real difference appears to be the option to pay by bitcoin or cash. Proton appears to have more options and less likely to be blocked if you go away on holiday etc.

0·14 days agoMaybe you enjoy the “getting it to work” part more than me. I went from RPi to a cheap used miniPC from eBay. Installed Debian and bought a wireless keyboard with touchpad. Cheap and so much simpler. Plays all my flac music through Strawberry, plays all my movies at home and away. Easiest VPN setup, I don’t use smart functions of my TV, just the miniPC for everything.

2·1 month agoLet’s pray for the day that future generations will know that to be the Super key, but like the floppy disk icon for ‘Save’ they won’t know why it is what it is.

I’m currently using Strawberry. Before that Deadbeef (was perfectly happy with Deadbeaf, just tried something different). MPD with Cantata was on the cards but not got to it yet.
