N26, the mobile bank, today announced a new membership agreement with Wero, the pan-European digital wallet and instant payment solution developed by the European Payment Initiative (EPI).
As far as I know Google pay is not supported.
It is however an open source implementation of the google Play services.
It will still talk to google services but apparently send fewer data.
Will they also join the banks that don’t require Google Services on their phones?
I’m using N26 on GrapheneOS without Google services. Works fine.
I’m using N26 on my degoogled phone with microG.
I believe it’s only used for push notifications, SafetyNet/Play Protect are not necessary.
Is there any bank that doesn’t require that?
A few, but I don’t know if it’s coincidental or desired. They keep babbling about “security”, but is reliance on Google really security?
It works with microG
But it’s still Google pay, right?
As far as I know Google pay is not supported. It is however an open source implementation of the google Play services. It will still talk to google services but apparently send fewer data.
There’s no alternative yet right?
