Time will tell if they are really serious. There are so many thing that have to be decoupled from the US. The media industry needs way more support, marketing and ads for EU media are deeply necessary. The US recognised long ago that getting citizens to have a positive opinion about you opens a lot of doors. The EU desperately need to learn to do that. The media industry in the EU is garbage. There are barely any internationally known European media.

Imagine being such a cretin to successfully destroy almost 100 years of transatlantic relationship in one year. As a European, I will always be thankful to President Donald Trump for his destructive and outright hostile behaviour to our Union. Because now the EU has woken up.
