These “feel good” Europe articles are exactly that, but you guys are a hair’s breath away from voting in nationalist right wingers. And getting closer by the day.

I don’t know a great solution, other than banning Big Tech; for the love of everything please ban US social media at least. But I’ll tell you what isn’t a solution: celebrating little moves such as this, as if the EU heading in a good direction. It is not.

True, but it is not a ban of US social media that would solve the problems.

In most of the EU countries people started to vote for the right wings becasuse the left wings failed hard, and people choose the alternative.
I mean, last week in Italy the left wings “justified” the fact that 3 people that attacked a policeman with a hammer during a demonstration are already free, they “justified” the fact that a man with a list of felony is still free om the streets and sucker punched a woman on the street. Do you really think that voters see this and think “Wow, these are the politicians I want to run my city/region/state” ?
And it is not a problem of immigrant vs Italians, in the first case the 3 guys where italians, in the second it was an immigrant.

The establishments believe this stuff too, they think they can indefinitely continue to run as the status quo, selling the population out to the rich and the connected, and not have the country elect a far right, supported by the US and Russia, that fully intends of fixing elections.

We aren’t talking about the far right getting in power for a cycle or two, we are talking about the far right getting in everywhere and all of them fixing themselves, their own parties, in power, and they will become monsters after elections are fixed.

This is disengenuous. Many European and democratic nations in general have more popular discourse in the mainstream and less overall approval because of multi party systems. In America it is one or the other, where in Canada we have 3 major parties, a growing 4th party and dozens of special interest parties. You are right that far right interests are growing abroad as well. I wonder where that influence is coming from? The same backers funding America’s downfall perhaps?

Those same right winners that are supported by both Russia and the USA?

Because that’s literally why those parties are so successful.

French people are in denial about the dangers of the State going rogue. The laws are already there, there are almost no limits to police powers. The executive branch has unlimited power in practice because of the Constitution being written by a bunch of old men afraid they may some day be deposed.

The justice system is officially bankrupt as well: minor crimes like scamming grannies or stealing bikes aren’t even prosecuted (complaints are dismissed before any investigation).

This is more than just a feel-good article. European leaders have finally realized that the US are adversaries. Statements and articles like these are needed to rally support to finally get rid of all dependencies from them. We in the EU have a democracy after all, we talk to each other and have different opinions. There is no Führer and the rest of the public just following along. Communication and talking are valuable, even if you disagree. Why have so many people forgotten that?

The reform we need is:

• Better labour rights
• Reducing the oligarchy’s influence
• Curtailing of fascist influence and algorithms
• Safeguarding ecologics and diversity
• Massive affordable house building projects
• Lower rent and energy self-sufficency
• Regulating immigration without deportation apartheid for normal people.
• An end to the surveillance state
• Reduction of police powers
• Deporting all fascists to Antarctica. They can stay there for all I care.
