Preliminary data from the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) showed that about 726,000 people were employed in the sector in Germany in 2025, nearly 47,000 fewer than a year earlier and almost 107,000 fewer than in 2019.


Yeah this. Reminds me of the slow but inevitable death of German coal (is it even dead now? it probably still writhes in some corner).
OTOH, considering where our “big brother” is going, you might be unironically right. Let’s hope not.
