which apps would be must have for you for a trip abroad also general apps recommendations are fine

preferably ipen source (foss)

    Anki to learn the language (if you need it) Binary eye for qr codes (you ll need it in restaurants, museums etc ) Breezy for the weather (low poly ui, love it!) Co maps for navigation (fork of organic maps, offline) Converter - km/miles and currencies Translate you for translation ,you can set different translation engines

    I used citymapper on my trip through four countries in Europe a couple months ago and it was amazing for the transit systems and navigating me around. Especially useful in Paris and London’s subway and bus lines. I really liked the reminder notification it would send me when my stop was approaching, because I would get the notification on my Garmin watch.

    Other than that, openvpn client back to my home router in the US when I was on public Wi-Fi.

    Google translate for real time image translation and quick reference to ensure I remembered the right word in French or German properly.

    Whatever map software you pick, try to download a huge chunk of offline map for your area.

    Figure our the public transit apps the locals use, familiarize yourself. Download offline data if possible.
