    Imagine NATO having to go to war against the USA… That said, giving veto power to 5 member countries is a joke. China, Russia, US, Uk and France should not have this amount of power

    The only reason why the US doesn’t have as many vetos as the USSR, is because between 1946 and 1969, most motions and proposed legislation were issued by the United States

      @cosmicrookie @Pip

      Just a quick technical correction! 😊 You’re mixing up the UN and NATO here. The 5-country veto power (US, UK, France, Russia, and China) belongs to the UN Security Council. NATO doesn’t actually have a veto system; its decisions are based on consensus among all members

    Starmer said yesterday that the UK is pivoting away from the US to concentrate more on EU relations.

    When I was a kid, there was a cranky old guy a few fries short of a Happy Meal in the neighborhood who kept shouting at us when we played in the street under his window. We didn’t say anything for a long time, until one of us got really irritated and shouted back to tell him to fuck off. And we were all so tired of being rebuffed that we all joined in, despite being of single-digit age and clearly disrespecting an adult we had no business talking back to like that.

    This is what’s happening here at states level.

    The civilised world just wants America to shut up and go away

    This isn’t new. It’s sad that I remember being horrified at Bush Jr. stealing the election from Al Gore, and now those are considered to be “the good old days”
