This is sort of a follow up from a thread I’ve posted a while back but more on the monetary side of things. I know that certain EU countries still have the draft (conscription) enforced like for example: Lithuania, Greece, Finland, Austria & etc. but the question is: do both volunteers & conscripts in your country receive a decent salary at all?

Putting into perspective, I have an pay chart referenced from the US army. [Converted from USD > EUR]

Here is the pay table for enlisted and NCO’s (pay grades from E-1 to E-9): [Yearly]

Here is the pay table for officers and generals (pay grades from O-1 to O-10): [Yearly]

In hindsight:

  • How much do soldiers & conscripts in your country actually earn (in local currency) per annum?
  • Are soldiers in your country (including conscripts) paid that much as shown above?
  • Does an E-2 infantryman earn approximately $32,366.40 (~27,987.55 euros) per year?
  • I know an well experienced American Colonel lives under the salary of $128,700 (~111,365.70 euros) what are you able to purchase in your country with that amount of money?
  • In regards to both (3-star & 4-star) Generals, do they earn close to $227,998.80 (~197,307.90 euros) as their annual salary, even then what can they afford with aprrox. 200K Euro?
