YT went to shit in 2017 when they got black boxes into all ISPs for local caching. That is why they stopped promoting social content. I had around 1500 subs back then and posted regularly on 3 channels. I cared about people sharing advanced projects in ways that only video communicates well and efficiently. When YT stopped sharing that stuff in feeds, people stopped posting. YT cannot cache all that content locally and do not maintain the infrastructure to support people from around the world sharing micro niches. That means the only people worth watching are those that have credentials and maintain their reputation. Everything else is corpo manipulative garbage by design. No one follows new content because of caching. Search engines are no longer deterministic. So there is no organic flow of information. There is no natural stream of people that will find you. This is ultimately a scam where you are extorted for exposure where that extortion will match all overhead beyond what it takes for you to survive as a de facto slave. It is the same on eBay and Amazon and etsy and anything that requires logistics. All of these are priced beyond and viable margin to run a real business. Retail is also a suicidal money bonfire because everyone sucks bezos off on the daily and at least in the USA real estate mismanagement and banking are so corrupt it has killed every type of opportunity. It is all just made up. The cost of living is not real. People everywhere live at the same level -ish with little actual deviation. The US is not competitive because real estate is astronomically overinflated. Most land is not inhabited in the country. Cities are artificially constrained by surrounding failures to reform and unchanged zoning laws from a century ago. No one makes reasonable plans in government just temporary hacks and patches so we seed all power to these situations where real people have no escape from slavery. YT’s caching is digital slavery by proxy. That avenue was shitty in 2017, but now? Now its existence is only an illusion to dangle in from of humans in a pin to stupid to see the sign on the fence says slaves on the other side.

If you turn off history - yeah, you’ll get default recommendations and those are cancer. Probably the only good reason to turn history on. Even then, it’s a bandaid on a horrible UI that gets worse every update.
I use YT in the weirdest way possible. I’m not subscribed to anyone and my feed and recommendations do all the lifting. It works really well for my needs. I hardly ever see shit i’m absolutely not interested in, and i find new thimgs that i am interested in. But when it logged me out and i saw the default youtube recommendations… Holy shit that is some nightmare shit. It’s just absolute clickbait ass content for children or tiktok adults.
Pretty sure if you’re logged out every region will be like that by default. That, or at least full of news and questionable news “commentators”. YT loves that stuff.
