upcoming OnePlus device, rumored to have a massive 7800mAh battery (per Wccftech).
and it would absolutely smoke the 5,000 and 4,685mAH batteries in the Galaxy S25 Ultra and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Instead, Apple and Samsung seem to be prioritizing thinness at all costs, for reasons that aren’t entirely clear beyond aesthetics and bragging rights. It’s been years since I’ve heard anyone complain about how thick a phone is, if not a decade or more. Complaints have trended in the opposite direction, I’d say – without a case, some phones can be so thin and slippery that they’re hard to grip securely. Even my wife’s OnePlus 9 5G has that issue. A few foldables, like Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold , are so thin when open that they feel like they might bend or snap.
In my opinion, which is based on the OPX, OP6T, OP9, OP10 and many many devices I’ve used from other manufacturers, Oneplus does hardware very well. My latest phone was a Pixel 8 Pro so I could run Graphene and while I do not regret my choice, I do miss the Oneplus hardware, and most of all the 3-position slider switch. My OP6T is old as dirt now, but still exudes a higher quality feel than my Pixel when you hold it. To the point of the discussion: One Plus has amazing battery life and hardware versus competitors at the same price point.
How much does it weigh? I don’t want to almost double the weight of my phone when I can fast charge in 15 minutes and I rarely ever need to do that.
S24U user.
I want to kill people with my phone. Make it 4 times heavier, and give it a hickory handle.
I agree, but at least OnePlus does have proper fast charging and not the slow stuff that Samsung has, my S21 barely does 18W. It looks like the S24U is up to 45W, but it would be nice to see 100W charge rate in more phones.
As someone who until recently had a Ulefone 27T pro with a 10600 mAh battery (that’s not a typo) the weight gets real boring real fast. Mine weighed over half a kilo.
I still have it and I’ll use it for camping and travel because it will go 5 days on idle without a charge but I bought a different phone for EDC
The phone only really needs 12 hrs of battery life
Now that’s a hot take. Why?
It’s like RAM and processing power.
“Oh we have 70% more battery, now we can spend less time optimizing apps for power usage”
