In my state it’s 16 and they recently met to decide if they wanted to raise it to 18… and decided not to.
There was actually a news story a few months back about how the cops had to let a 40 year old who met with and had sex with a 16 year old girl on the internet go much to the complaint of the father because as far as the state was concerned… the latter was legally an adult and could make her own sexual choices.
The idea that this stuff is wrong is newer than you might think.

Most of the developed world is 16 yeah ? Australia is. Hell you can soon vote in elections at 16 in the UK.
