  • Even if there’s such a thing as a program without bugs, you’d still be overlooking one crucial detail - no matter the method, the end point of cybersecurity has to interface with humans. Humans are SO much easier to hack than computers.

Let’s say you get a phone call from your boss - It’s their phone number and their voice, but they sound a bit panicked. “Hey, I’m just about to head into a meeting to close a major deal, but my laptop can’t access the server. I need you to set up a temporary password in the next two minutes or we risk losing this deal. No, I don’t remember my backup - it’s written down in my desk but the meeting is at the client’s office.”

You’d be surprised how many people would comply, and all of that can be done by AI right now. It’s all about managing risk - there’s never going to be a foolproof system.

  • Can confirm. I had an older coworker come out to me by saying that her husband “never judged her for having girlfriends in the past”, but didn’t know the language around it. She was treated so poorly by so many people that she didn’t feel like a part of the gay community, moreso ashamed and judged. She couldn’t talk to people about it, so when would she have learned those words?

Sometimes it takes someone younger being open about it for the older generation to even realize that there are words for it now.

  • It’s my favorite Godzilla movie because of this aspect. There’s a scene where I lost it in the theater when the >!Prime Minister is completely certain in telling the press that Godzilla will absolutely never, not in a million years, not make landfall… only to have an underling whisper in his ear that Godzilla just made landfall.!<

I worked for a Japanese company at the time, and could recognize that it wasn’t even heightened for parody. That’s just exactly how it is.

  • Content/context lost in the “simplification”:

The speaker no longer feels they are in a vulnerable age. The speaker has a more formal relationship with their father. The “something” is specifically advice. The advice can change meaning depending on your perspective of it.

While it’s great as an introduction to a language, it’s NOT the same story. Not to mention, we already have things like SparkNotes from humans who have broken these stories down.
