Most of our search result pages feature one or more Instant Answers. To deliver Instant Answers on specific topics, DuckDuckGo leverages many sources, including specialized sources like Sportradar and crowd-sourced sites like Wikipedia. We also maintain our own crawler (DuckDuckBot) and many indexes to support our results. Of course, we have more traditional links and images in our search results too, which we largely source from Bing. Our focus is synthesizing all these sources to create a superior search experience.

My understanding is that they outsource the search part to bing’s search back-end. Saying DDG is just Bing is like saying two butchers are the same because they get their meat from the same supplier.

I can get behind that sentiment.

I reached for the up button about five times reading this. I absolutely 100% agree. Agile, and all of it’s little branches, were created by self managing teams. Each team did it differently so named what they were doing differently, we got XP, scrum, kanban, etc. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t the specific flavour that led to success, it was the diverse, empowered, self managing team of mature, talented people. Get yourself a team like that and the rest will care of itself.

My only requirement for team processes is that they be mostly up to the team. Absolutely some type of structure is needed. If something isn’t working for the team, they need to have agency to address that, whether it means adding, removing, or changing something.

I started playing with it, but decided that DNS was slightly lower level than I wanted to host myself (personal opion, more power to you if you disagree). Instead, I use NextDNS which gives me great control down to individual devices, blocks ads and malware, and doesn’t bring down the internet for my entire home if I have a faulty power supply or SD card or whatever.

Firefox will grow into a suite of software? Why?

My guess is that this is just a branding push. Not so much “the firefox browser will start doing all sorts of non browser things” and more like “we’re going to call our non-browser things firefox”.

For example:

• Thunderbird -> Firefox Mail
• Mozilla VPN -> Firefox VPN

It’s only really cheating if you cheat someone else. The point of video games is fun and entertainment. If “cheating” improves that, have at 'er.

No, it’s entirely possible they used cursor without any AI at all (that’s unlikely, AI is kind of cursor’s big thing), used it in a few places, as a slightly better autocomplete, or to “vibe code the whole thing”. There are probably good reasons to avoid proton, but a text file in their repo related to a specific text editor isn’t very significant.
