  • why would any country want people who are inherently more prone to crime in the first place?

Have you not heard of people trying to escape war or death threats? Countries love to gain highly educated immigrants, but many countries also open their doors in cases of need. And more typically, those tend to be poorer folks. That said, at least for the US, undocumented immigrants tend to commit less crime, although poverty is also a big factor in predicting crime. But it’s complicated and rather more nuanced than simple little pat phrases.

  • If you use the formatting bar to format text, it unlocks the View→Markdown menu which has two options - Markdown or Syntax. This allows you to toggle seeing the source or formatted markdown.

If you do not use the formatting bar to format text, markdown is not enabled. I manually typed in text in markdown format and the menu didn’t un-grey.

You can go into the app settings and turn off formatting, which will hide the formatting toolbar.

I think you really have to work hard to be offended by this.

Additionally, for those Notepad Purists™ who are offended by any features being added… Tabs are handy. And having it auto-save drafts and auto-open them is also handy - for me. Maybe you don’t like that, but you can disable the auto-save in settings. Can’t turn off tabs, but you can set it to open in new windows, so pretty close to disabling that.

If this is what drives you over the edge to use Linux… okay, bud, have it your way - and I’m a Linux enthusiast, so I’m all for it. But being pissed off by something you have to specifically enable seems a bit silly to me. It’s the hallmark of fascism - “Other people have the right to exist! FUCK THAT!” - a little hyperbolic, but the principle is vaguely the same. :P (And what’s the internet without hyperbole? :) )

  • Your smug sarcasm is neither welcome nor warranted. While I have not devoted my entire life and being to the cause, I have contributed to the cause as I’ve been able for more than 25 years. I’m on wikipedia because of one little thing from 2009.

Your little answer doesn’t deserve a huge reply, but in brief: Regime change doesn’t just happen. First, you have to get the people to recognize the problems. Then you have to get people talking about the problems. Then you have to get the people out protesting so they can see there’s others willing to stand up. Then, if you have a sufficient watershed event, you can get regime change. When some pieces of this happen but not others, you get things like the Wall Street protests from a few years ago that fizzled because there was anger and people were out protesting, but there wasn’t a plan for change.

It’s way more than one person can do. So you can try to blame me all you want because it makes you feel better about yourself, but I’m trying. I’m no Greta Thunberg or anything. If I throw myself all the way into trying to effect this change, I’ll end up in prison or dead with nothing to show for it. We all have to live our lives and do our best to balance our own wellbeing, helping out others locally, helping out others around the world, working for various causes as we’re able, financially supporting those as we’re able. And it’s harder because the fascists in the US try to keep us down as much as possible - tired and poor - precisely to control us, to make us too tired to fight.

But people are fighting, and so to flatly dismiss what people are doing is just disrespectful.

So I hope you’ll take a step back and understand that I was simply making a silly joke. German police are not going to come to the US to do anything. I know, the idea of a joke is a new concept to you. Maybe you are expected to read that from context and not make a fool of yourself with your bullshit reply. But oh well, you did.
