I think it is really useful to be able to tell that someone has seen a message and recieved the information within, without them having to write a pro forma reply.

This really doesn’t have to be an issue, if your social circle has reasonable expectations and people aren’t insecure enough to guilt trip you because of it.

Why do you need this? I’m curious because I didn’t even notice Signal had this restriction. To me instant messenges really aren’t something that I’d ever need an archive of.

I mean sure, technically that is a limitation. Realistically though, that is long enough.

Or do you regularly not open the desktop client for more than 45 days?
