I can only assume attacks against this man are constantly being planned. Only difference now is that campaigning is in full force now elections are nearing – so Geert can use this to his advantage.

Love Ed Zitron. Especially his podcast is great. All “AI” sceptics should give it a listen.

I’m saying that companies whose sole focus is generative AI will not be bailed out by the US government.

Intel actually makes stuff that gets used. OpenAI just spends billions upon billions of dollars for a solution in search of a problem to solve. It has to be shoved into everyone’s faces because someone has to start needing it, but no-one really does. The total revenue of all generative AI is the size of - brace yourself - the smartwatch market.

AI generated. Don’t read this poopsicle.

Are you talking about the AI / big tech companies? No they won’t.

Sounds good, I’ll be taking a look at Pixelfed et al. But what do people post? Photos of food, friends and holidays, like on Instagram back in the day?

But don’t you think that even without algorithms, people on social media would have the urge to falsely portray their lives as perfect (or at least exclusively post about the positive aspects thereof) - leading to jealousy, FOMO and negative self-image for some of the viewers?

There are multiple known possible negative effects of social media, not all off them caused by algorithmic feeds. Development of a negative self-image is the first thing to come to mind.

Yeah, very true. But non-algorithmic social media timelines are also bad for mental health.

Is it though? Even non-algorithmic social media has downsides.
Yes, that’s because libred looks like an Android mobile app to Reddit. Content doesn’t get blocked of on there, no matter what your IP address is.
