  • I mean I try not to pick everything apart. It’s just some things are so ‘in your face’ to me my brain goes into an error loop.

Especially when you are looking at something thats only purpose is atmosphere vs something that affects the story.

In this case the floating rocks are merely set decoration whereas the orbit through the atmosphere is a pointless artifical timer to add unneeded drama to a situation that already has enough. (And also already has another artifical timer with the vaccine d plot that is only there to make Una the episode’s ‘bad guy’)

  • Currently watching it. Just had to come here to bitch before I can finish it lol.

    1. I know Star Trek has never really cared about the science behind it all, but come on - the moon that travels through the gas giant’s atmo having any atmosphere nevermind a breathable one is just stupid - just have it not pass through the the gas giant’s atmosphere for christs sake.

    2. Stupid artificial constraints. Come the fuck on - if the vaccines are soo damn important, why wouldn’t you rendezvous first before dicking around. I know it’s happened plenty of times throughout Star Trek, but this one feels particularly egregious to me.

  • At first I didn’t really like this episode because of how off as Vulcans they seemed. Like they were overacting pretending to be a Vulcan.

But then I started thinking “well it kinda makes sense - they aren’t “real” Vulcans but a blend” and thankfully the whole Katra thing basically said the same thing.

Basically hardware-wise they are Vulcan and software-wise they are still human and as a result the 2 “systems” have trouble working together.

I loved Patton as Doug - even if it didn’t really make sense to me with everything we know about Vulcans.

In the end though it’s just another episode that makes me sad this is a prequel and all the great character development will get thrown out.

I’m especially mad they keep developing Spock specifically. Ethan Peck has done such a great job portraying Spock working on understanding and accepting his 2 halves that this show ends up being a disservice to both him and Leonard Nimoy.

  • Yes, it is a flaw. Because those “smaller things” are little more than virtual fidget spinners.

They offer a few fleeting moments of novelty and thats pretty much it. They have little to no relevance to the gameplay loop or are opposed to the gameplay loop.

I can “build” a settlement that does next to nothing and I can’t even design it the way I want.

I can build a base that is practically lifeless, but I have to be carefull because terrain will respawn. Or base foundations float on top of terrain.

And all the things I can build I’m lucky if theres 3 different skins I can choose from to try and make something “my own”.

And then of course lets not forget about the near literal mile wide inch deep the games oceans are. Heres a submersible. We will force you to use it for a couple missions and then theres no real need or point to it. All the oceans are the same shallow boring experience.

Here im being slightly facetious but only slightly :

You’ve seen one ice planet? Guess what - you’ve seen them all.

One glitch planet- you guessed it youve seen them all.

Tropical planet - oh look this ones sky is a different color, but still the exact same type of tree as that other tropical planet 40k lightyears away.
