I have no love for tankies. It just seemed like a lot of effort and mental energy went into that so I thought there may be some interesting lore there.

Why do you care about tankies so much?
You can just let people be wrong. It costs nothing.
They’re obviously hardliners to the point of comedic effect but why do you care so much to argue?
Do you really expect someone who’s so set in their opinions as to join .ml to read your comment and just go, “oh damn, guess I’ll just stop believing in the things I believe in and believe in entirely different things”?
Do you genuinely think you’re so convincing or do you just enjoy a good pissing contest?

Beyond surface level troubleshooting it’s mostly for parsing large amounts of text for relevant information
I feel like the belief that intelligence somehow grants immunity to propaganda has utterly devastated media literacy and subsequently our political landscape.
When people started taking memes and blogs as legitimate sources of information we were cooked.

2·4 days agoThis is so similar to the dotcom boom where people overestimated the technology and how quickly we would achieve the promised goals.
Half of the shit promised in the 90’s only came about in the early 10’s after literal decades of building the infrastructure.
I don’t think it’ll completely go away but people will eventually figure out it’s no magic bullet and it’ll see significantly less investment.

4·4 days agoJournalism at large died a while ago, gaming journalism has been an absolute joke for over a decade.
I have no respect for 99% of modern journalists, they just push 1%er propaganda and post mugshots while jerking themselves off as being self appointed “guardians of democracy.”
There are some who are trying to do some good and they have my utmost respect but they’re needles in haystacks.
Makes me think of the racoon trying to wash its cotton candy.
I bet. I’ve seen karaoke night, it’s brutal how many shitty renditions of “fuck her gently” and “Bohemian Rhapsody” you have to sit through.
The opportunity costs are real
The internet has made people entirely too comfortable with being absolute twats with no repercussions
3 seconds later the bartender clears the queue and OP wasted $20 to annoy nobody.
The amount of times I saw posts on reddit saying “upvote this so the top Google result is this political meme” despite that being disproved years ago tells me that the average tech literacy of users is abysmal.
Generally speaking most things that people interact with are black boxes to them. They only know that X output occurs with Y input, they no idea or care about what happens in-between.
The user never said that though.
The user posted a picture of Ted because Ted was anti-technology and now the user feels anti-technology sentiments because they were tracked despite taking precautions.
Nowhere do they express a desire for violence or other illegal activity.

It’s crazy how much we pay just to be denied coverage as a cost savings measure.
I can’t remember where it was from or if it was just one of the degens in the chat but I remember the phrase “cockstume party” being thrown around.
It’s easy to forget but paramount to remember that nobody is immune to propaganda.
No. As a rule basically anything you see here that the right is “panicking” about is a nothing burger to them.
It’s the same with their news feed, they get articles about how the left is “panicking” over shit nobody actually cares about.
More and more were hating fictionalized versions of each other and the ensuing culture war gives the 1% room to pave over our rights.
We’re to the point now where the “wft I love/hate X now” meme isn’t a joke. The culture war is fully driving people’s values, not ideology.
This is the main reason why people vote for trump, they want to win the culture war and don’t give a fuck about ideology.
Next time you see a headline or article ask yourself if you actually give a shit or if you’re being told to give a shit. You’ll be surprised how often it’s the latter.
95% of the memes here (like this one) here are just strawmen for culture war fodder.
Got drunk and sent a picture of my dick wrapped in a fur blanket with a face drawn on it and the caption “winter is cumming”
Was pretty funny all in all, was an incredibly rowdy group chat

Do you believe that engaging in arguments will change that? If anything your helping them by boosting their visibility via engagement metrics.
Changing a tankie’s mind with arguing is a sisyphean task.
