I dont know why this is even still a discussion. Bluesky is, intentionally or not, a bad actor that specifically used the empty promise of decentralization to sell the platform to techie people.

When they inevitably go bad in a few years (they kind of already did but thats another topic) there wont be any servers large enough to migrate millions of users to, so their supposed decentralization is entirely ineffective.

Because people are using them to violate other peoples privacy NOW and its getting more popular. Covertly recording conversations, recording people in bathrooms, changing rooms, during medical checkups, etc. The AI is just something that makes it slightly worse, but the recording is the actual problem. And as this whole post is about privacy concerns, the recording is all that matters. And even if its “just” recordings, you can feed them to the AI after you get home to get the same level of surveillance.

Idk if Doctorow actually coined it but its already part of my vocabulary. People that clean up AI code are reverse-centaurs by this terminology. People that are not using tools but are subservient to them, forced to deal with the AIs failings.
