It’s rather easy to understand why that is, though. Just look at what happens in many other countries when politicians dare to fuck with the pensions. They have a general strike on their hands. What happens in Germany? Fuck all, except for some hot air being produced by someone nobody listens to anyway.
Yea, the debate it is a shame. They come up with countries with more years of labor before pension, but don’t tell you that these countries have like 70% pension level.
Living costs keep on rising, taxes increase and you cannot save for your retirement, but you should work longer for less (<50%).
I cannot understand why people aren’t furiously taking that to the street (on the other hand the majority of voters are pensioners, which vastly still have good conditions).
But fear not… not only are you expected to work longer, you are also entitled to less (shrinking “Rentenniveau”). It’s a win-win /s
