• That’s because the ads on GTA radio are just comedy bits. If ads on real radio were just clips of standup comedians, I wouldn’t complain about 'em. 🤷‍♂️

Also, is the DJ David Cross voices for KULT FM the same character he voices in San Andreas? 🤔

All the stations are such over the top parodies. Real world people saying dumb shit isn’t funny, it’s sad.

My main radio station I listen to is publicly funded so there’s no ads. It does however have a show with 2 comedians doing social and political commentary with deadpan delivery. Sadly just one episode per week.

There’s also a hangover show with other comedians but I don’t find it as funny recently. Greatest hits include things like a morning exercise routine that concludes with moving yourself just enough to grab a beverage and resume drinking.

Nope, different country. Unfortunately, the show is in Estonian so unless you speak it, I don’t think it’ll make any sense to you.

Burnout Paradise had a really awesome soundtrack, too. Driving games always pay for the bangers, and it must be a lot of fun to write fake news and whatnot for interstitials.

Seconding Fallout for OWR and ConelRad, and Saints Row, but also my newfound love Cyberpunk 2077.

Maybe a bit niche, and I haven’t played in a while, but the piped in bar music at stations for Elite Dangerous was incredible. It did not have to be that diverse and immersive, but their sound team doesn’t do anything less than 100%.

How do you like to eat your rusty browns ring donuts?

Some of the radios in vice city were so funny. I still listen to them today at work

The only music station I listen to is one run by the students in a liberal art college near me, on a good day it has a range of something like 10 miles. There is almost no talking except station ID notices and everything they play is music I like.

I’m a 50 year old goat farmer with “scene girl” taste in music.

    • I know what Fallout’s radio lacks that would make it so much better: An in-world talk show. Like, the songs are great and all but they’re not unique to the game since they used licensed stuff. I like the DJ segments, tho. But I mean… All we get is a few seconds of Three Dog, or Mr. Las Vegas, or Travis here and there (depending on the game).

Imagine a GTA style talk radio station, but in the Fallout universe. Maybe the host gets a raider to talk to that inevitably ends with the raider shooting up the studio. Or a hick wastelander trying to show off his 3 headed brahmin because he doesn’t understand how radio works.

I’ve actually fancied a real podcast in real time during gameplay. A podcast that specifically talks about things relevant to the game itself so it doesn’t feel made up.

Fallout 4 had this, with the host remarking on things that happened in game. You could find and interact with the host in the diamond city, he could even die IIRC
