Maybe if the German elites were willing to help, but they are busy stuffing their pockets and gloating about their investments into Rheinmetall and other war profiteers having multiplied recently. The problem goes much deeper than comparing conscripts between Finland and Germany.
I do blame few EU citizens coming to help fight against the empire, for Ukrainians and Finns etc having to carry almost the entire weight. This isn’t a matter of conscription however, fuck conscription due to all the abuse it involves. International volunteer effort is needed.
This is not on the German youth, though, it’s on the German elites. They need to provide an acceptable social contract if they want the youth to be fine with military conscription. Instead they’re currently doing everything in their power to bleed the masses dry.
Adding to this, it’s rich to hear this type of thought coming from a Fin when geography is not on their side knowing they were happy to throw the European south under the bus not so many years ago after the 2008 GFC. Geography determined the wealth in natural resources in Finland is greater per capita than elsewhere in Europe. If you want people to be willing to die for Finland, learn to lend a hand when they are struggling themselves. I’d happily join Finnish defense, but I believe there’s a wealth of people who would feel otherwise given Finland’s historically selfish foreign policy and swerve to the far right!
NIMBY and austerity are Germany’s state religions. Politicians and media have preached and incentivised unrestrained selfishness as the ultimate life goal for decades, and now, what they have sowed is coming to fruition.
