If only there was some sort of movement of gracious people willing to donate their expertise and time to write software and allow the users to fully control it by giving away the source code. That’d fix everything!
But… but… then you’d have to think about what you’re doing and *gasp* develop a basic understanding of the technology that runs your life! Who has time for that nerd shit?
I’m assuming from this smug nonsense that you’d be able to fix your car if anything went wrong, right? What about if something structurally went wrong in your home? If you don’t understand how an MRI machine works you better not get medical care!
What an absolutely brain dead take on what people should and shouldn’t be doing with their time.
I notice you’re not saying anything about the car or the house. Don’t know much do you? You just let other people do it because otherwise you’d have to think about what you’re doing and gasp develop a basic understanding of the technology that runs your life!
To be fair, some people are burnt out to degrees most of humanity struggles to comprehend. Of course, there are always the lazy butts; HOWEVER, you cannot generalize at all.
Imagine youre cutting trees with an axe and someone tells you theres a tool out there that can do it better, but you have to learn how to use it to become efficient with it. And you dont have time to learn new tool because capitalism says you have to have that tree cut down right now.
No no, you don’t understand. Because this person wants to learn about linux everyone should want to. Because if they want to it’s the best. If you just want to use things that are easy and spend your free time on things you enjoy you’re an IDIOT! Wake up, sheeple!
That may have been true for Linux 10 years ago, but now it is easier to install than Windows, and much faster to install. It may mean the axe handle is a different colour, but it chops the same or better.
There is never a good time to change things. You just have to start somewhere. And I’m not saying everybody should do it right now. But the more people do it the quicker we build critical mass.

But how would they make money?!

Not everyone has that aptitude. It isn’t always a matter of motivation.

Accusing other people of dumb takes and spewing out a zinger like this does not require any more comment.

Nah man, those stupid ass single parents working multiple jobs need to get their priorities straight! /s
So basically, if you’re sawing trees with a blunt saw and somebody suggests sharpening the saw, you’ll say “I can’t, I got trees to cut!”?
Almost.

Who the fuck needs to “learn” Linux? it’s an operating system. You just push the damn buttons.

Youre assuming youre talking to someone who installs their OS and doesnt open a box with an OS already installed
I mean Dell, Lenovo, HP, system76, etc sell laptops with Ubuntu or Pop!_OS installed

People doing things with their time and expertise without a profit motivation is Communism!

If only my work would listen to you
(We make Windows-only software so a transition to Linux any time soon ain’t happening)
You have my sincere condolences, buddy.
