  • Yep. I abandoned r/gaming when I still participated in Reddit. Avoid discord game server lobbies. Have text chat and voip disabled in competitive gaming. Gamers have always been real douches, from game criticism to shitting on other players for any reason whatsoever, so if one wants to enjoy a game it’s best to stay away from the “community” at large and stick with friends or a known group. Community in quotes because there really isn’t one, just mostly a rabble of haters and tryhards mixed in with a lot of people just trying to have some fun.

  • I got first introduced to Dunks 25 years ago in Boston. They used to actually have a distinct, strong coffee flavor. I didn’t like it, but like you say, it was relatively inexpensive. Over the intervening decades the quality of coffee has been inverse to the sugar content of the Dunkin’ menu. It’s all crappy sugar bombs these days and the distinct flavor that was their brand disappeared about 15 years ago. Also, the vast majority of the street litter these days in my area is dunks. I don’t know what it is about the brand but the paper bags and plastic cups in the road are mostly all dunkin detritus chucked out the window by shitty people.

  • It’s gotten far, far worse. There’s always been an online lingo like this from way back in chat groups or apps like AIM or IRC, but texting shorthand when we had phone keypads and limited texting was way more legible. We shortened the word count more than the letter count and autocomplete wasn’t a thing. Now the shorthand is completely unnecessary and has become more of a stylistic choice than a necessity. I don’t mind it, but when coupled with generational slang it can become indecipherable.
