Ooh, scary once again. First, let me give you some credit and take the description for face value: How is this omnipotent system going to be created? By humans who err? By current LLMs which dream up names of libraries and functions? And most importantly, how is it going to become capable of manipulating “anyone to do anything” when even “I” do not always know what it is going to take for me to do some arbitrary X, and this is true for almost all humans, save sages/buddhas etc (can’t deny they are possible, so count them as existing)?
Your proposed threat looks like a conspiracy theory. Some of them have proven to be actually true, and this is no reason to believe anything
My monkey brain keeps hearing of non-linear progress, and things keep staying here:
Besides that, since you insist on being fearful: why AI of all things and not a handful of rich assholes who actually make our lives hard every damn day?
I didn’t read it that way. In this case - yes, we most definitely should
Oh, that I can, and thank you for your message, really. With that said, here is the differences: cars did work as a transport, and AI as it is marketed (magic replacer of all) does not, and even in the narrow use case of programming - no, it does not. It can produce heaps of lines of code, it cannot do the work of building a reliable software that does what is required of it. It has also failed to replace artists. So no, I am not afraid
And here I thought to have heard the funniest joke you can make. Farming. With current climate change dynamics. If I could do that, I would rather do something funnier, like bets.
And about who would be where: if Lemmy still stands ten years after, chances are I will be here too. But I feel safe to count on “bubble has burst, it’s in the news. How ya feel there” within a few years. Will ping you for sure
Here ya go: in US someone has the audacity to ask people to use less water so that AI can function. Yet the whole city has been growing in population just fine for quite some time. A mystery, right?
Ooh, scaary. Wake me up when I get my unemployment certificate
Well, better than getting eaten up by Tyranids. Though this is so very arguable
Damn that is so good. Take my upvote!
Lol. That’s funny. Do it again
You also can fuck right off. Didn’t do much my ass
Oh, fuck off with that bullshit. I don’t even have a desire to describe why and how exactly this way of thinking is crap
“Christians” also stole this land and genocided people who had lived here since long before they came. Those who don’t like this should return to where their forefathers came from, no?
I am saying it is about greed because it actually is, since I am yet to see a situation where the ultimate filter for supporting/dropping a client is NOT revenue from people using that client, and here I am talking specifically about companies making money on their product, so no open source, subsidised, hobby projects etc.
Peole love to rant online
They do, now try to catch precisely me doing this
Expand this, please. I am sure I did not get you
It can be fixed: we can choose to produce less idiots and more caring people. You are right, of course, that it is not the only thing we should be doing
What should be fixed is people. The above described logic is true, it does really happen, and behind it is the idiot desire: to get more money. Not to make a better thing, not to make someone’s life better, not to build something worthwhile - in other words, nothing that could get me out of bed in the morning. When that’s the kind of desires fueling most companies and societies, all things will be going in all kinds of wrong ways
Yeah, it should also work without browser exactly as it does with a browser
Likely. We don’t know for sure. Come back for more later (edit: sarcasm, of course)
