Games@lemmy.world•Ex PlayStation exec says Sony can't keep "increasing the graphics power" with new consoles after tech plateau, but PS5 has already "made almost every game a better game"English
3·6 days agoI have a PC and PS5. I like my PS5 because I know when I buy a game for it, it’s going to work. On the other hand with my PC I have to triple check the specs and fiddle around with the graphics settings, and the only way I can have confidence that it will play any game is if I spend ~£1000 upgrading it. Or just get the game on the playstation.

2·10 days agoSecret bases! Kinda pointless but if you did record mixing with a friend they would appear in their own base in your game and you could battle them

3·10 days agoHad to switch the console off and leave it for a few days. Crowds of dozens of headless zombies running at me and I couldn’t kill them, all I could do was keep fleeing on horseback, only to encounter another crowd of them. Genuinely the scariest experience I’ve ever had in a game.
Yeah I remember having a copied Spyro game on the PS1 back in the 90’s where the fairy would warn you in game that it knows it’s been pirated and will fuck with the game to stop you from being able to finish it.
Not actually sure what it did as I never got very far, as I was a dumb kid only interested in charging around and breathing fire at the scenery.

0·10 days agoNever even thought of that! We have a well known household review magazine here called “Which?” but I always used to turn my nose up at the idea of paying for reviews when I can just go on the internet and find semi-trustworthy reviews for free. Looks like those days are gone now.

0·11 days agoI was researching new vacuum cleaners recently, and found one of those websites that allegedly test and compare different ones.
One of the entries had wording to the effect of “This vacuum cleaner may have a weight of <X>, and might have feature <Y>” etc.
It was fucking AI generated garbage that didn’t even know anything about the vacuum cleaner so it started speculating.

4·11 days agoHad that on the PS3 back in the day. Got a weird glitch one time where the zombies all spawned with no heads and were basically immortal. Now that was true horror.
Install one of those funky wind-redirecting towers that they’ve started adding to cargo ships
Most of the time it’s the social aspect that is infectious. It gives you something in common with other fans that would otherwise be strangers to you

31·2 months agoI honestly didn’t think it was any better or worse than the others. The writing wasn’t good in any of them, but the gameplay was good enough. Tiny Tina was the most irritating character in the whole series and she’s mainly in BL2, which is a fan favourite.
I’ve never thought any of them were worth buying at full price though as they all tend to feel a bit tedious about 2/3rd of the way through.

Yearning for a dictatorship is generally considered an extreme opinion.
