The “western” ones here look more real. The “eastern” ones look fake to me. I definitely think this post is weird bait.

TrickDacy@lemmy.worldto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Why I Ditched Spotify, and How I Set Up My Own Music Stack | LeshiCodesEnglish26·19 hours agoThe ways you mention are basically just corporations with extra steps.
Edit: I’m just saying – our music is practically all funneled from a corporation at several steps in the process of it getting to us, even if the final step is a friend telling you about it. And yes I know there are plenty of obscure/indie/non-commerical bands but those don’t account for very much of the totality of music that gets listened to.
What do you expect from a Mac, a company whose entire ethos is proprietarism?
How did you travel from 1997 to get to 2025?
What kind of interesting?
I’ve seen this and the other extreme, like at my current job. We hire basically anyone, overlooking obvious flaws, then give them a basically blank check for fucking up. I don’t know why no one can get the balance right. Don’t hire just anyone, but also don’t grill the living shit out of the candidate! A single one hour interview is probably enough, but also don’t be so forgiving that anything off about the candidate needs to be noticed by everyone on the hiring panel to matter.
You hiring? Jesus that sounds amazing

TrickDacy@lemmy.worldto Mildly Infuriating@lemmy.world•The sheer amount of websites that are completely unusable without JavaScriptEnglish0·11 days agoI mean you could build a site in next.js, ironically. Which is very counter intuitive because it literally is js you are writing, but you can write it to not do dynamic things so it effectively would be a static server rendered site that, if js is enabled, gets for free things like a loader bar and quick navigation transitions. If js is disabled it functions just like a standard static site.

TrickDacy@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Context: Docker bypasses all UFW firewall rules3·12 days agoI agree, for any context that it makes sense, docker is so worth it
TrickDacy@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Context: Docker bypasses all UFW firewall rules3·12 days agoEven when it seems like an app runs identically on every platform, you can easily run into issues down the road. If you have a well configured docker image, that issue is just solved ahead of time. Hell, I find it worth messing with just moving a node.js app between Linux boxes, which would experience the least issues I can think of.
